The El Camino Wildcats were the 51-35 winner over Mission Vista when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. El Camino took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mission Vista. El Camino has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, El Camino saw an underclassman step up: Alana Hoskins scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 48.7% of El Camino's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Vanessa McFerran, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mission Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alana Musnicki, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Musnicki has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alycia Rankin, who scored 12 points.
El Camino has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Mission Vista, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-11.
El Camino will take on Santa Fe Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Santa Fe Christian is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Mission Vista, they will take on Morse at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Morse presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mission Vista in California (Morse is ranked 181st, while Mission Vista is ranked 973rd).
