The Arroyo Valley Hawks will take on the Rim of the World Fighting Scots at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Arroyo Valley's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Notre Dame as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.
Michael Rosas was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Jorge Reyes was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Arroyo Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rim of the World). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Fontana 12-11.
The team relied heavily on John Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Henry Arredondo, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Arroyo Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Rim of the World, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-10.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arroyo Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Rim of the World struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Arroyo Valley took their victory against Rim of the World when the teams last played on April 4th by a conclusive 19-3 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Fighting Scots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
