The Williamson Marauders will head out on the road to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Williamson can't be too worried about heading out to take on Notre Dame: they just beat Addison at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Marauders put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 15-5 win on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Marauders needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Myles Wurtz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Williamson is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-8 otherwise. Wurtz was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cooper Brandt was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Caiden Watson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Williamson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame came tearing into Saturday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Dragons as they made off with an 8-1 victory.
Like Williamson, Notre Dame also got a great game from a two-way player: Evan Fitzpatrick. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Fitzpatrick has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adyn Horzempa, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Chase Antinore, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Williamson's record is now 8-9. As for Notre Dame, their record now sits at 18-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Williamson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Notre Dame struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
