Denver North is 2-8 against George Washington since September of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Vikings will head out to face off against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Denver North will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Denver North hadn't beaten Thomas Jefferson on the road since August 24, 2020 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 20-1 win. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Veronica Loera-Tafoya made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Denver North got a massive performance out of Gabriela Diaz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Diaz has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Villarreal, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
Denver North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 20 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Denver East hit George Washington with a 13-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots lost 17-5 to the Angels. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Patriots have suffered against the Angels since September 12, 2019.
Amelia Nelson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Nelson was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Muggy Duffy and Leilani Martin did some serious damage despite the final result: Duffy went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles, while Martin went 1-for-3 with one home run.
George Washington's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Denver North, their record is now 14-2.
George Washington's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Denver North has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.9 hits per game. It's a different story for George Washington, though, as they've been averaging 10.3 hits. Given Denver North's sizable advantage in that area, the Patriots will need to find a way to close that gap.
Denver North took their victory against George Washington when the teams last played back in August by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
