This season hasn't been kind to the Newport Christian Seahawks, who are still winless after their sixth match. They suffered a tough 41-15 loss at the hands of Western Christian on Friday. Newport Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Western Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Western Christian was led to victory by Madi Bauer and CeCe Balderrama. Bauer dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds, while Balderrama dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds. Balderrama has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 15 times she's played.
Newport Christian bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Western Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newport Christian will take on The Webb Schools at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Western Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against San Gabriel Academy at 6:00 p.m.
