Emma Gibson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Denver South let Kynley Price and Nici Montoya run wild. Price went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Montoya went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave Montoya a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Dastin, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Denver South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-2 to Vista PEAK Prep, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Thomas Jefferson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allison Hockett, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Denver South has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Thomas Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-20.
Denver South took their win against Thomas Jefferson in their previous matchup back in August by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ravens since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
