Pacific Grove gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener  on Friday. They came out on top against the Gilroy Mustangs by a score of  6-1. The  victory was some much needed relief for the Breakers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Pacific Grove got a great performance from  Rowen Meyer as he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance gave  Meyer a new career-high in  strikeouts.
 At the plate,  Ben Garry and  River Lyon did most of the damage at the plate:  Garry  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with two  stolen bases and two  RBI, while  Lyon  went 1-for-3 with three  RBI and one  double. Those  two  RBI gave  Garry a new career-high.
Having lost for the first time  this season, Gilroy  fell to 2-1.
 Looking ahead, Pacific Grove will square off against Soquel at 3:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Gilroy, they will challenge Watsonville at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
