The Torrey Pines Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Rancho Bernardo Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Torrey Pines had taken La Costa Canyon down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Falcons fell 6-3 to the Mavericks. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Torrey Pines got a good showing from Alex Waisbord, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Waisbord gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April.
On the hitting side, Camden Nishnick was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Logan Cole, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Rancho Bernardo and San Marcos, and San Marcos kept the tradition alive. The Broncos fell just short of the Knights by a score of 7-6 on Friday.
NATHAN LING was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brady Strachan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of NATHAN BEMBENEK, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Torrey Pines' record now sits at 11-13. As for Rancho Bernardo, their record is now 12-11.
