The Saint Joseph Jesters suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Thursday. They were dealt a 76-44 defeat at the hands of Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Saint Joseph in their matchups with Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary: they've now lost nine in a row.
Saint Joseph's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Martinez, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Leah Zabukovac was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds.
Saint Joseph has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, they pushed their record up to 15-9 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saint Joseph will take on St. Monica at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Monica presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Saint Joseph in California (St. Monica is ranked 254th, while Saint Joseph is ranked 513th). As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Amat at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Amat is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
