The Royal Highlanders will square off against the Culver City Centaurs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Royal is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Royal made easy work of West and carried off a 13-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Highlanders.
Dustin Dunwoody got the start for Royal and what a start it was: he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Dunwoody has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dayne Peters was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Ryan Talley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Royal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West only posted an OBP of .371.
Meanwhile, Culver City fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Serra on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 7-6. The Centaurs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Nolan Riesenberg made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Culver City's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-9-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Riesenberg, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Royal's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Culver City, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Royal has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Culver City struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Royal couldn't quite get it done against Culver City when the teams last played back in February of 2025 as they fell 5-1. Will the Highlanders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
