The St. Paul Wildcats will face off against the York Dukes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
St. Paul saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of Aquinas by a score of 13-12. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (ten), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.
Alli Dugan led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. Kamden Sack was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, York won against Polk County on Thursday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Dukes' pitchers stepped up to hand Lexington a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Dukes, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Mira Garrett was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Taytum Methe, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
York hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
The victory was the third in a row for York, bringing their record up to 15-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for St. Paul, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-11.
St. Paul suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to York when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
