Dougherty Valley is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Saint Mary's.
Dougherty Valley got a good showing from Nicholas Johnson, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Dougherty Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Robbins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That hit marked the first that Robbins got this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). They blew past Bear Creek 16-2 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Take Sato-Kreis looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Aiden Tavares was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of George Schmitt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
The victory made it two in a row for Foothill and bumps their season record up to 8-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Dougherty Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Dougherty Valley suffered a grim 20-4 defeat to Foothill when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Dougherty Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
