Tri-Metro - East recap Sept. 26, 2012
St. Anthony Village moved up to 85 from 121 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Tri-Metro - East. The Huskies were able to make the jump by beating Concordia Academy 42-25.
St. Croix Lutheran suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 48-7 loss to St. Croix Lutheran. The Crusaders had been ranked sixth, but fell to 30 following the defeat.
The Beacons' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Austin Moldenhauer threw for 40 yards and Ryan Odeen had 35 yards receiving. On the ground Baeza Tensaie chipped in 172 yards. Jake Beasy helped Concordia Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
Beasy made the biggest impact on defense this week as Concordia Academy fell to St. Anthony Village. The 5-foot-8 senior forced one fumble and recorded two fumbles.
St. Croix Lutheran's Lincoln Hochmuth and Cody Sticha have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hochmuth has thrown for 174 yards this season, while Sticha has three catches for 111 yards. Tensaie from Brian Brown's team leads the league in rushing with 625 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Carl Lemke's team takes on St. Agnes. As it stands, the Crusaders are in first, while the Aggies are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when St. Croix Lutheran takes on St. Agnes. The Crusaders have allowed 76 points this season, while Jim Stangler's team has given up 61. St. Croix Lutheran allowed 7 points last week as it topped New Life Academy/St. Croix Prep.
The Crusaders took down the Eagles 48-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
