The Jim Ned Indians will be playing at home against the Whitesboro Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jim Ned will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Jim Ned ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 14-7 victory over Iowa Park. Given Jim Ned's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Iowa Park is ranked 508th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jim Ned to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dean Guffey, who rushed for 39 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 96 yards and a touchdown. Guffey is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Carter Wood did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 94 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, after only nine points in their last matchup, Whitesboro made sure to put some points up on the board against Ponder on Friday. Whitesboro took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 47-14 win over Ponder. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Whitesboro had established a 25 point advantage.
Whitesboro relied on the efforts of Karter Sluder, who gained 97 total yards and three touchdowns, and Maxx Parker, who rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Their wins bumped Jim Ned to 8-2 and Whitesboro to 5-5.
Jim Ned beat Whitesboro 30-21 when the teams last played back in November of 2018. Will Jim Ned repeat their success, or does Whitesboro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
