Video: Steal of home between the legs
Check out an exciting and creative way to score a runMaxPreps Junior Player of the Year: Nick Brueser, Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.)
Brueser was one of just three juniors to earn MaxPreps all-American first team honors and he is the choice for the honor of Junior Player of the Year. Brueser earned State Player of the Year honors in Arizona by the Arizona Republic after leading Hamilton to a Division 1 state championship.
Brueser's numbers are nearly identical to last year, when he earned sophomore all-American honors. This season he batted .442 and had the exact same number of hits (46) as last season. He upped his RBI to 47 (34 last year) and equaled his home run total with nine.
MaxPreps Sophomore Player of the Year: Ryder Green, Hardin Valley Academy (Knoxville, Tenn.)
As a freshman, Green helped Hardin Valley Academy win a Tennessee Class AAA state championship. While the Hawks did not reach the state title game in 2016, Green ranked as one of the state's top player. Although just a sophomore, Green was in contention for Class AAA state player of the year honors by the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association.
Green also was one of the top sophomore power hitters in the nation as he belted 13 home runs while batting .414 with 57 RBIs.
MaxPreps Freshman Player of the Year: Hunter Barco, Bolles (Jacksonville, Fla.)
Barco was named the player of the year in the Jacksonville area after leading Bolles to the Class 5A state championship in Florida. Barco was one of the national leaders in wins with 12 and he also earned MaxPreps medium school all-American honors.
