After flying high against the Athens Bulldogs last Saturday, the Gallia Academy Blue Devils came back down to earth. Gallia Academy fell 49-41 to Point Pleasant on Tuesday. Gallia Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Point Pleasant apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Point Pleasant got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Grant Barton out in front who scored 16 points along with three steals. Barton hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Carrsen Lambert was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Gallia Academy has fallen quite a ways from their 18-7 record last season and are now at 4-10. As for Point Pleasant, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.
Gallia Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gallia Academy in Ohio (Fairland is ranked 153rd, while Gallia Academy is ranked 505th). As for Point Pleasant, they will head out on the road to square off against Marietta at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Marietta's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Point Pleasant has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
