Hesperia is 1-9 against Oak Hills since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Hesperia is taking a road trip to take on Oak Hills at 3:15 p.m. Hesperia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Hesperia after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 15-5 to Sultana. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Scorpions have suffered since February 21st.
Dru Lona made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Hunter Mayer was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Oak Hills made easy work of Burroughs on Thursday and carried off an 8-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Seth Marcil spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, James Juarez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Connor Wagner, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Oak Hills is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 7.8 strikeouts in those games compared to only four in the others. Hesperia's loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Oak Hills' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hesperia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. It's a different story for Oak Hills, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Hesperia's hitters?
Hesperia couldn't quite get it done against Oak Hills when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can Hesperia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
