After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three games, the University City Centurions finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They were outmatched by Scripps Ranch on the road and fell 54-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points University City has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why University City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaela Martinez. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Clare Valentine continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Scripps Ranch, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Valentine's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Michelle Kramer was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
University City's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Scripps Ranch, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
University City's road trip will continue as they head out to face Olympian at 3:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Scripps Ranch won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Eastlake at 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd. Eastlake is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
