The Spring-Ford Rams's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Perkiomen Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Spring-Ford scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They really took it to Phoenixville for the full four quarters, racking up a 86-56 victory at home. Given Spring-Ford's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Phoenixville is ranked 185th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Spring-Ford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anna Azzara, who scored 24 points along with five assists and five steals. Azzara is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Solliday, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Perkiomen Valley rose to the challenge on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 73-22 victory over the on the road. The win was familiar territory for Perkiomen Valley who now have 14 in a row.
Perkiomen Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bella Bacani out in front who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bacani has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Galbavy, who scored 14 points.
Spring-Ford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Perkiomen Valley, their victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1.
Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Spring-Ford have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 48.2% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Perkiomen Valley struggles in that department as they've made 44% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Spring-Ford came up short against Perkiomen Valley in their previous matchup last Friday, falling 56-48. Can Spring-Ford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
