High Tech CV extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-10. They came up short against the Liberty Charter Lions, falling 18-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Xavier Gomez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
As for Liberty Charter, they pushed their record up to 6-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.
On Liberty Charter's side, Travis Kraling and Zachary Runge were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kraling pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Runge struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kraling also tossed a walk, which is notable because Liberty Charter is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-6 otherwise. At the plate, Kraling went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Runge went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs. Those two hits gave Kraling a new career-high.
In other batting news, Liberty Charter got a massive performance out of Austin Otero, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Otero has become a key player for the Lions: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Logan Hays was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. High Tech CV is set to square off against their familiar foe Chula Vista Learning Community Charter at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Liberty Charter will challenge rival Mountain Empire at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
