Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact the Millard West Wildcats proved on Saturday. They took down Elkhorn South 65-50. That's another feather in the cap for Millard West, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jordan Gassen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Carson, who scored 15 points along with five assists.
Several Storm players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cooper Mroczek, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. Lincoln Schwarz was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Millard West's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Elkhorn South, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Millard West is on the road again on Friday and play against Gretna East at 7:15 p.m. on January 5, 2024. One thing working in Gretna East's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. Elkhorn South and Westview will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Tayvin Murphy and Aidan Skradis.
