Barstow is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Granite Hills a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Barstow Aztecs will be playing at home against the Granite Hills Cougars at 3:15 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Barstow turned things around against Silverado on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over the Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Aztecs have posted against the Hawks since April 24, 2023.

Noah Gudino made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has become a key player for Barstow: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-11 otherwise. Gudino was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kekoa Samples was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cruze Arroyo, who went 1-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Barstow kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, Granite Hills brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Miller on Tuesday. Considering the Cougars have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Granite Hills also got a great performance from Seth Christenson as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Travon Jackson Jr and Isaiah Mayorga did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson Jr went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run, while Mayorga went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Paul Watts was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Barstow's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Granite Hills, they moved to 13-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
Barstow came up short against Granite Hills in their previous meeting back in April, falling 6-1. Will the Aztecs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
