The Ponderosa Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Heritage Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ponderosa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Heritage will be up against a hot Ponderosa squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Mustangs put the hurt on Highlands Ranch with a sharp 17-0 victory on Friday. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Annabelle Horan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Braelyn Sisk was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Isabelle Hall was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Ponderosa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Heritage, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They skirted past Regis Jesuit 13-11. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Aubrey Kramp was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maddie Barbre, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Ponderosa's record now sits at 10-12. As for Heritage, their record is now 7-15.
Heritage's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ponderosa has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Heritage, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Ponderosa's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Ponderosa couldn't quite get it done against Heritage in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 12-9. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
