Basketball Game Preview: Central Grizzlies vs. Clovis East Timberwolves

Central has gone 10-0 against Clovis East recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Central Grizzlies will take on the Clovis East Timberwolves at 6:30 p.m. Central will be strutting in after a win while Clovis East will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, Central strolled past Clovis North with points to spare, taking the game 64-46. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Broncos are ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zyraeis Murphy, who posted eight points in addition to 15 boards and five blocks. Murphy is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Savana Chase, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Clovis East came up short against Clovis on Tuesday and fell 65-54. The defeat continues a trend for the Timberwolves in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.

Central is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Clovis East, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.

Everything went Central's way against Clovis East in their previous meeting back in January, as Central made off with a 65-41 win. In that contest, Central amassed a halftime lead of 41-21, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
