Milken has gone 7-2 against Shalhevet recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Milken Wildcats will host the Shalhevet Firehawks at 3:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Milken's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Shalhevet has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Milken is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest defeat since April 24, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Esperanza by a score of 5-3.
Milken got a good showing from Jordan Liebman, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Liebman also put up two walks, which were his first of the season.
At the plate, Jonah Herschko was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elijah Shokrian, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Shalhevet scored the most runs they've had this season last Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica.
Avinoam Grossman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Sandler, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Milken's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Shalhevet, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Shalhevet's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Milken hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Shalhevet, though, as they've only averaged .113. Will they be able to contain Milken's hitters?
Milken took their win against Shalhevet in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2. Does Milken have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shalhevet turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
