The St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 56-42 fall against Lick-Wilmerding. While losing is never fun, St. Joseph Notre Dame can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 713th, while Lick-Wilmerding is ranked 226th).
St. Joseph Notre Dame's loss came despite strong showings from Isabella Corral and Brooke Brown. Corral scored 11 points, while Brown scored ten points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lick-Wilmerding to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amaya Tavu, who scored seven points along with six assists and five rebounds. Tavu is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Emmie Hou was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
St. Joseph Notre Dame has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Lick-Wilmerding, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Notre Dame will take on Arroyo at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Arroyo is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Lick-Wilmerding, they will be playing in front of their home fans against University at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
