Football Recap: Albuquerque Academy Piles Up the Points Against Del Norte

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Albuquerque Academy's strategy against Del Norte on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Chargers blew the Knights out of the water with a 51-0 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Chargers had established a 45-point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Albuquerque Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Finn Thompson, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Thompson was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 64 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Conway, who picked up 24 receiving yards and one TD.

Albuquerque Academy has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 46.5 points this season. As for Del Norte, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Albuquerque Academy will be playing at home against Hope Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Del Norte, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Manzano at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
