Raytown is 0-10 against Truman since September of 2020 but things could change on Monday. The Bluejays will look to defend their home field against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Raytown turned things around against Ruskin on Thursday. They blew past the Golden Eagles 14-4. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bluejays needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Jazlynne Farmer made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Farmer was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Raytown got a massive performance out of Savannah Young, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits Young has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Charisma DeWitt, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Truman got themselves on the board against Ruskin on Wednesday, but Ruskin never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over the Golden Eagles. That 20 run margin sets a new team best for the Patriots this season.
Like Raytown, Truman also got a great game from a two-way player: Taylen Parker. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Parker was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Truman let Tori Shearer and Adleigh Jeffries run wild. Shearer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Jeffries went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. Shearer is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Piper Fatool, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Truman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .923. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win got Truman back to even at 6-6. As for Raytown, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
Raytown suffered a grim 16-4 defeat to Truman in their previous meeting back in September. Will the Bluejays have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
