Triad is a perfect 5-0 against Centralia since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Orphans at 4:30 p.m. Triad's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Centralia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Triad's win against Wheaton-Warrenville South wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights skirted past the Tigers 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Meanwhile, Centralia got themselves on the board against Waltonville on Tuesday, but Waltonville never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Orphans have won three games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Michael Organ and Archie Goewey made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Organ tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Goewey didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Organ earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Goewey got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run. Organ is becoming a predictor of Centralia's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rhett Lambert, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Centralia: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Preston Feig was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Centralia now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Triad, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Everything went Triad's way against Centralia when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Triad made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Orphans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
