The Point Pleasant Big Blacks lost to the Scott Skyhawks back in December of 2022, but the Point Pleasant Big Blacks didn't allow the Scott Skyhawks the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Point Pleasant pulled ahead with a 47-46 photo finish over Scott. The win was all the more spectacular given Point Pleasant's disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Scott is ranked 24th).
Point Pleasant got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Katelynn Martin out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Martin scored 15 or more points. McKenna Young was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Point Pleasant's victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-1. As for Scott, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Point Pleasant will face off against Calhoun at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Scott will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Wayne at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Wayne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.
