Del Mar hasn't had much luck against Prospect recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Dons will host the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Del Mar's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
While Del Mar didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Independence 17-1 on Thursday. The Dons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Del Mar got a massive performance out of Kyle McClements, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. McClements is becoming a predictor of the Dons' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Mason William, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.
Del Mar was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .652. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Leland hit Prospect with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 6-4. The Panthers have struggled against the Chargers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Jeremy Wang put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs.
In other batting news, Brogan Entwisle made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI.
Del Mar pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Prospect, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Both Del Mar and Prospect just can't seem to miss. The Dons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Prospect struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Del Mar suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Prospect in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Dons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
