Big Bear is 8-2 against Riverside Prep since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Big Bear Bears' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Riverside Prep Silver Knights at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Big Bear comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Big Bear suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by University Prep on the road and fell 43-14. Big Bear was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-7.
Meanwhile, Riverside Prep didn't have too much trouble with Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy on the road on Friday as they won 57-42. The win was just what Riverside Prep needed coming off of a 51-31 defeat in their prior matchup.
Mya Graham continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a triple-double on 32 points, nine rebounds, and 13 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kayriel Myles, who scored two points along with nine steals and eight rebounds.
Big Bear's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-14. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.9 points per game. As for Riverside Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season.
Big Bear was dealt a bruising 71-29 loss at the hands of Riverside Prep in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Big Bear avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
