After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sonoma Valley, the Piner Prospectors were happy to have found some success on Monday. They secured a 42-38 W over Roseland University Prep. This was payback for Piner, who suffered a 45-39 loss the last time these two teams met.
Piner's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julia Almaraz , who scored nine points. Betzie Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Piner's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Roseland University Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Piner won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Windsor at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th. Windsor is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Roseland University Prep will be home for the holidays to greet Calistoga at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
