After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Turlock, the Downey Knights were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They secured a 37-31 W over Enochs. For Downey, this counts as revenge for the 47-39 loss Enochs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Downey's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nathalia Soto, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Monroy, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Enochs lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gurleen Gill, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and five steals. Gill is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Natalie Quinones was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Enochs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Downey only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Downey's victory ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15. As for Enochs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Downey will square off against Gregori at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gregori will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Enochs, they will head out on the road to take on Turlock at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Turlock is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
