A feisty cat fight will be fought as Redlands East Valley Wildcats face off against Beaumont Cougars at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Redlands East Valley will be strutting in after a victory while Beaumont will be coming in after a defeat.
Redlands East Valley will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Vista del Lago on Saturday. Redlands East Valley's pitchers stepped up to hand Vista del Lago a 17-0 shutout. Considering the Wildcats' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Alan Gibbons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Brayden Dismang
In other pitching news, Brayden Dismang and Ethan Snellings dominated on the mound. Dismang tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Snellings pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dismang also tossed no walks, which is notable because Redlands East Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Azeal Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Arthur Chavez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Redlands East Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Beaumont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Arrowhead Christian, falling 11-3.
Beaumont saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Diaz, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
The win got Redlands East Valley back to even at 7-7. As for Beaumont, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Beaumont's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Redlands East Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Beaumont, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Redlands East Valley keep running through batters, or will Beaumont buck the trend?
Redlands East Valley couldn't quite get it done against Beaumont in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can Redlands East Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
