Softball Recap: Lincoln East's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Lincoln East's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They never let the Columbus Discoverers get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Savannah Stahly tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chesney Haydon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 16 games. Lainey Bednar was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Lincoln East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory snapped Lincoln East's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-6 record. As for Columbus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lincoln East will challenge rival Lincoln Southwest at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Columbus is set to square off against their familiar foe Omaha Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
