Eaglecrest extended their winning streak to six on Saturday, bumping them up to 12-2. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Grandview Wolves. The Raptors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Haisley Elliott made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Abby Files and Lexi Barger did most of the damage at the plate: Files went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double, while Barger went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles Barger has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Tiani Lobitos, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Eaglecrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .538 or higher in three consecutive games.
As for Grandview, they moved to 8-5 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. Wolves fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Eaglecrest since Saturday.
On Grandview's side, Madison Jaramillo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Jaramillo is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sasha Kennedy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Eaglecrest will be playing in front of their home fans against Smoky Hill at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buffaloes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.38 runs per game on average), something the Raptors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Grandview, they will head out on the road to face off against Cherokee Trail at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Wolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
