The Miramonte Matadors and the Castro Valley Trojans will round out the year against one another at TBD on Thursday at. Hopefully Miramonte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
Last Friday, Miramonte was fully in charge, breezing past Las Lomas 59-29 at home. The victory was just what Miramonte needed coming off of a 50-28 loss in their prior game.
Karena Eberts continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Eberts is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Willa Mapaye was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Castro Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Oakland on Thursday, taking the game 48-36.
Castro Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sofia Tom, who scored 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Tom has scored at least 25% of Castro Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Chew, who scored nine points along with six assists and five steals.
Miramonte's record now sits at 4-6. As for Castro Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's match: Miramonte have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.3 threes per game. It's a different story for Castro Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 5.4 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
