The El Capitan Vaqueros lost against the Grossmont Foothillers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. El Capitan fell to Grossmont 48-42. El Capitan has struggled against Grossmont recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
El Capitan lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Keira Heinricy, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Paige Worthem, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Grossmont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aakash Price, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Dahlia Blake was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Grossmont, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Capitan will play host again and welcome Mount Miguel, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount Miguel is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Grossmont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monte Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Monte Vista will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 736th, while Grossmont is ranked 190th).
