The Gustine Reds lost against the Waterford Wildcats back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The match between Gustine and the Wildcats wasn't particularly close, with the Reds falling 50-32. Gustine was down 44-13 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
When it comes to explaining why Gustine lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alexis Gallichio. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points. Caitlyn Gallichio was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Waterford was led to victory by Sadie Boone and Thalia Reyes. Boone dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Reyes dropped a triple-double on 11 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reyes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Samantha Ward, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Gustine's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Waterford, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gustine will take on the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Delhi is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Waterford, they will be playing at home against the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
