The Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes are taking a road trip to challenge the Thomas Heyward Academy Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, Coastal HomeSchool earned a 13-9 victory over St. Andrew's. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hurricanes.
J.W. Castongia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Castongia was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jace Poppell, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Smith, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5.
Coastal HomeSchool always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Thomas Heyward Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They skirted past Beaufort Academy 14-12. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rebels as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Colton Young was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Young was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Mackie Bowers was a standout: he scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Dodge Peeples was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Thomas Heyward Academy's record now sits at 2-6. As for Coastal HomeSchool, the victory got them back to even at 14-14.
Coastal HomeSchool couldn't quite get it done against Thomas Heyward Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Hurricanes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
