Western Boone is 0-7 against Zionsville since April of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Stars are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Western Boone is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
On Wednesday, Western Boone got the win against Crawfordsville by a conclusive 16-1. Considering the Stars have won nine matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Raina Lutz made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ally Lewis was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Shaunna Hitch also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Western Boone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Zionsville's offense. They fell just short of Center Grove by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since May 21, 2024.
Leah Helton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
Western Boone's record now sits at 13-3. As for Zionsville, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-3 record.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Western Boone has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Zionsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Western Boone suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Zionsville when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Stars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
