The Orland Trojans lost against the Las Plumas Thunderbirds back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Orland fell 42-29 to the Thunderbirds. Orland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Orland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lillianna Rowe, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Karle, who scored five points along with two steals.
Las Plumas was led to victory by Ava Hepworth and Isabelle Olivares. Hepworth almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds, while Olivares scored 14 points along with five assists and four steals. Hepworth has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
Orland's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Las Plumas, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
Orland will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Las Plumas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corning has now lost 14 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9.
