The Avella Eagles were the 64-49 winner over the West Greene Pioneers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Avella took a 48-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Greene on Tuesday.
Avella lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ava Frank, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. The game was Frank's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Haleigh Rush was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Avella's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for West Greene, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avella will take on Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for West Greene, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Geibel Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Geibel Catholic will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
