Baseball Game Preview: Cordova Lancers vs. Grant Pacers

For the second straight game, Cordova will face off against Grant. Cordova will be playing in front of their home fans against Grant at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Cordova is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Cordova will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Grant on Wednesday. Cordova was the clear victor by a 14-3 margin over Grant. Considering the Lancers have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bro Ahlstrom was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Cordova got a massive performance out of Sawyer Nyberg, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Alfonso Maya, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Cordova always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Cordova has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. Grant is on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cordova has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Grant struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
