The Gretna Dragons entered their tilt with the Omaha South Packers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Gretna took their contest at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 82-44 victory over Omaha South. The result was nothing new for Gretna, who have now won three contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
Gretna had a senior duo take command as Landon Pokorski scored 18 points along with nine assists and Alex Wilcoxson scored 16 points along with three steals. Pokorski hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Treven Wilkins was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Omaha South's loss came despite strong showings from Lou Hodoly and Keegan Kimble. Hodoly scored 13 points, while Kimble scored 13 points. Hodoly scored a full 29.5% of Omaha South's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ramon Ware, who scored seven points.
Omaha South struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Gretna's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Omaha South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Gretna will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lincoln North Star on January 6, 2024. Omaha South will take on Papillion-LaVista in a holiday battle at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at. Hopefully Papillion-LaVista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday.
