The Escondido Cougars had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They strolled past Rock Academy with points to spare, taking the game 36-17.
Escondido found their leader in underclassman Anaya McGlory , who scored 16 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that McGlory scored 15 or more points.
Rock Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Thereza Horugavye, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds. Horugavye has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
Escondido's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Rock Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-1.
Escondido will head out on the road to face off against Rancho Buena Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rancho Buena Vista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. As for Rock Academy, they will play host again and welcome Del Lago Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Del Lago Academy is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
