Shasta is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Chico is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Shasta Wolves will take on the Chico Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Shasta gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 49-28 margin over Enterprise. The win was just what Shasta needed coming off of a 79-49 defeat in their prior contest.
Joriana Gibbens-egolf and Bria Tate were among the main playmakers for Shasta as the former scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and the latter scored 17 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Rosales, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Chico beat Pleasant Valley 49-43 on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Chico's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Pleasant Valley is ranked 43rd).
Shasta is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Chico, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
Shasta came up short against Chico when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 54-50. Thankfully for Shasta, Campbell Vieg (who scored 31 points along with two blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
