MaxPreps California regional bowl game matchups

The Falcons and Pirates are both competing for a NCS Open Division title.

One problem with predicting the possible matchups for the California regional bowl games is that several of the sections in California don't decide their divisional breakdowns until they begin seeding the playoffs.

As a result, trying to determine what division teams from the Sac-Joaquin and Central Coast Sections will be placed is usually guess work. However, now that the brackets have been seeded, these matchups become a little bit easier.

So we've had to make a few changes in our predictions. In the Sac-Joaquin Section, Manteca is competing in Division IV (we had predicted Division III). Meanwhile in the Central Coast Section, Valley Christian (San Jose) is competing in the Open Division 3 (we had predicted Open Division 2). Additionally, we had predicted that Madison (San Diego) would play in the Open Division. Instead, it will play in Division 1.

MaxPreps determines its regional matchup predictions based on the MaxPreps Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. Care is also taken to avoid regional matchups between teams from the same section when possible. The team's record from this year and its current computer ranking are included in the regional matchups.
