Unbeatens Mission Viejo, Alexander Central and Pioneer (San Jose) have had a light schedule due to spring breaks, but their domination keeps them atop this week's MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Softball Rankings.

Combined, the three schools are 51-0 and have outscored their opponents 343-23.

Those are just three of the 14 unbeaten teams ranked this week.

Rounding out the Top 10 are unbeatens St. Amant, Crown Point, Aledo, Rockwall and Reed. No. 6 Orange Lutheran suffered its first loss of the season and is 18-1, while No. 10 American Heritage has won four in a row since suffering its lone loss of the season.

New to the Top 25 this week are Eagle (Idaho), Bloom Carroll (Carroll, Ohio), Yucaipa (Calif.), Boiling Springs (Spartanburg, S.C.) and Deer Park (Texas).


1. (No. 1 last week) Mission Viejo (Calif.), 17-0
Senior pitcher Taylor McQuillin has a dozen shutouts this season and opponents have scored but nine runs in 17 games.

2. (2) Alexander Central (Taylorsville, N.C.), 15-0
The Cougars, who have an 81-game winning streak, have outscored their opponents 153-7 this season.

3. (3) Pioneer (San Jose, Calif.), 19-0
The Pioneers play next on April 23. Sophomore Holly Azevedo is 18-0 and has not allowed an earned run in 107 innings.

4. (5) St. Amant (La.), 25-0
St. Amant has won its last three games by a combined 35-1 margin.

5. (6) Crown Point (Ind.), 5-0
The Bulldogs are hitting under .300, but pitchers Miranda Elish and Alexis Holloway have 58 strikeouts in 30 innings and have allowed just two hits in five games.

6. (4) Orange Lutheran (Calif.), 18-1
Orange Lutheran saw its 16-game win streak end to El Segundo (Calif.), 4-3, but bounced back to blank Pacific (San Bernardino) and Paso Robles.

7. (7) Aledo (Texas), 19-0
The Bearcats ran their win streak to 45 by beating Centennial, 11-4.

8. (8) Rockwall (Texas), 15-0-1
After ripping North Garland, 17-1, the Jackets blitzed Lakeview 19-0 to remain unbeaten.

9. (10) Reed (Sparks, Nev.), 21-0
The Raiders ran their streak to 21 with 19-1 and 10-0 wins over rival Wooster (Reno).

10. (12) American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.), 20-1-1
Since Heritage lost to Jupiter it has won four straight. Senior Jenna Goodrich is unbeaten at 12-0 with a 0.41 ERA.

11. (11) Coronado (Lubbock, Texas), 20-1-1
CHS defeated Friendship (Wolffort), 3-2.

12. (12) Atascocita (Humble, Texas), 20-2
Since losing to The Woodlands, Atascocita won three times by a combined 26-2 margin.

13. (18) Bishop Carroll (Wichita, Kan.), 6-0
The Golden Eagles took a pair from Kapaun Mt. Carmel (Wichita), 16-1 and 12-0. Brittany Finney is hitting .824 with 14 hits, 16 RBIs and five homers. She is also 3-0 with 28 strikeouts in 14 innings.

14. (17) Woodinville (Wash.), 10-0
The Falcons blanked Inglemoor 10-0 and routed Redmond 17-1.

15. (15) La Grange (Texas), 24-0
La Grange routed Giddings 12-0 for its seventh-straight shutout win.

16. (16) Gainesville (Fla.), 24-1
With shutout wins over Santa Fe (Alachua), Eastside (Gainesville) and Palatka, the Hurricanes ran their win streak to 21.

17. (19) West Orange (Winter Garden, Fla.), 23-1
The Warriors, averaging 11 runs and allowing one run per game, have won 14 straight.

18. (NR) Eagle (Idaho), 16-0
Led by pitchers Bradie Fillmore and Autum Moffat, the Mustangs have allowed just 15 runs while scoring 219 in 16 games. Ten wins are by shutout and 10 wins are by 10 runs or more.

19. (NR) Yucaipa (Calif.), 16-3
Since losing to No. 1 Mission Viejo, the Thunderbirds have shut out Canyon (Anaheim) and Cajon (San Bernardino) twice with Brooke Bolinger pitching a three-hitter and a pair of one-hitters.

20. (21) Curry (Jasper, Ala.), 30-3
Curry has given up just 27 runs in 33 games.

21. (NR) Boiling Springs (Spartanburg, S.C.), 18-2
Behind the pitching of McKenna Quinn, the Bulldogs took two from Dorman (Roebuck) to continue their Upstate dominance.

22. (NR) Deer Park (Texas), 23-4
Deer Park is putting it together: six straight wins and the last three by shutout with a 33-0 scoring margin.

23. (14) Santiago (Corona, Calif.), 15-2
Santiago routed West Covina 15-0 and Canyon 11-1, then lost 1-0 to Citrus Valley (Redlands).

24. (24) Cape Fear (Fayetteville, N.C.), 12-0
Behind the pitching of Mary Williams and the hitting of Brianna Bryant and Haley Cashwell, the Colts recorded their sixth-straight shutout and captured their own Easter Tournament title. Williams has not allowed an earned run this season.

25. (NR) Bloom-Carroll (Carroll, Ohio), 5-0
Taran Alvelo is unbeaten and has allowed 10 hits with 57 strikeouts in 30 innings. She is also hitting .571.

Dropped Out: Bald Knob (Ark.), Washburn Rural (Kan.), Meade (Ken.), Edwardsville (Ill.) and Southside (Ala.).
